Simply put, the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok is the classiest option you can find just a block away from the red-light district of Nana Plaza. Located on a quiet street just at the back, the JW Marriott towers over Soi Nana and while you can see see the bright neon signs while waiting for an elevator or even from some rooms, it never permeates inside the hotel so you can enjoy the calm atmosphere at the pool, bars and restaurants without even noticing your proximity to that other world. The JW Marriott Bangkok itself is simply fantastic, service is wonderful, staff friendly, food is outstanding. Rooms are very comfortable, decorated in dark tones with rich wood paneling and marble bathrooms. These might feel a little outdated compared to the newer hotels, However the fittings and beds are definitely of Marriott quality and it just works. The Kirikayan is smaller 4-Star Boutique Resort with just a handful of rooms located near the quieter southern end of Chaweng Beach, about a good 20 to 30 minutes walk from the nightlife of Soi Reggae and Green Mango. Amenities include a lovely infinity pool with swim up bar facing the beach and ocean from where wide steps lead down to a beautifully kept beachfront, on one of my favorite patches of sand of the Chaweng strip. I ended up spending most of my days moving back and forth between the loungers on the beach and the ones beside the pool. Room are in Thai style, very comfortable and cosy with lovely gardens on the lower level. Awarded TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence in 2018, the Kirikayan will please those looking for a small and intimate guest friendly resort away from the hustle and bustle of central Chaweng. Have a look below for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.

The Lamai Bay View Resort stands at the quiet end of Lamai bay in a peaceful location a good half an hour on foot from the beer bars of the Lamai city center, or just only a quick drive by motorbike which can be rented at the property. For those are uncommon with the area, one of the most beautiful strips of sand of the island: Silver beach is only 15 minutes walk away. The property grounds are very inviting, about two dozen individual bungalows are spread in a tropical garden on sloping terrain that ends in a beautiful beach. Bungalows price depend mostly on size, not so much of amenities. Definitely not 5-star but pleasant and well maintained, furnished with all the basics: Big fridge, decent A/C unit, TV set, electronic safe, coffee making facilities and Wifi. The private terraces all offer splendid views. The resort amenities also include a swimming pool, open air restaurant and a small private beach with some sun loungers and hammocks. In the end a great a place for those looking to relax and totally unwind during the daytime, not so much for those who need nightlife and entertainment right at their doorsteps. Have […]

The Lamai Wanta is one of the most conveniently located resorts in Lamai, directly in the middle of the action with all the beer bars, pubs and clubs practically at your doorstep or within an easy 5 minutes walk. Tucked in a side street in a lovely tropical garden setting, very little noise of the hustle and bustle manages to get into the resort. A pool overlooking the beach is found at the front of the property, with poolside bar service, always plenty of sun loungers to chose from on the beach and around the pool. Entry level rooms are quite basic but come with all the essentials (TV, A/C mini-bar, safe, kettle, free daily water, etc). Particularly enjoyed the bed and pillows, unusually comfortable for Thailand. Unfortunately WiFi signal was hit and miss. Free standing bungalows area also available closer to the beach. Highly recommended for it’s proximity of the nightlife, excellent beachfront location with an infinity pool overlooking the sea and competitive rates during low season. Have a look below for the pictures I have personally took during my stay of the room and hotel amenities.

Le Murraya Resort is located in a quieter area just south of chaweng lake, within easy walking distance (about 5 to 10 minutes) from the beach and the beer bar hostesses of Soi Reggae. The resort features a 24-hour gym, restaurant (limited to serving breakfast) and a smalll outdoor pool set in a lovely garden area with a dozen or so sun loungers and parasols that you can enjoy by yourserlf most of the time. One of the advantages of staying here at Le Murraya is you also get to use, free of charge, the fantastic 4-star beachfront and pool facilities of their sister hotel, the Synergy Samui Resort just 5 minutes away. My personnal reason for chosing Le Muraya and the most likely the reason they get awarded the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor are the huge rooms they offer for the price. The smallest category starting at 45 sqm are already very spacious while the suites are massive. While definitely not high-end, rooms come with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay and are more of an apartment with seperate bedroom, living and kitchenette area plus a private balcony with table and chairs. All come equipped […]

89/9 Moo 3, Chaweng, Bophut, Surat Thani, Ko Samui 84320, Thailand
The LK President is new hotel that’s recently been opened in 2016, this high rise is quite easy to find as it’s one of the tallest buildings in the area. Like with all the other hotels of the LK branch, they aim to make the design very palatial and grand with marble tile floors and 20 foot ceiling. Location on 3rd road could be a letdown for some, but it’s actually not that bad and even quite central once you get acquainted with the neighborhood, as Soi Buakhao, Soi Diana & Soi LK are just 5 minutes walk away. Amenities include a swimming pool, which is relatively small and located at the ground floor, a sauna and a basic gym with all you need to do some light exercise. Rooms again are your typical LK style, old fashioned but spacious, furniture was new and of good quality, room control center next to bed, bed itself was super comfy, flat TV offers a wide variety of channels, really nothing much to complain about, bathroom good, plenty of hot water available for the shower, try and ask for a room on the highest floors they offer some spectacular views. Have a look […]
340/63 Moo 9, Pattaya 3rd Road, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand, 20150
The LK Renaissance (which now has been re-branded as the LK Renaissance) enjoys a prime location on Soi Diana with most of Central Pattaya’s nightlife nearby, this is currently one of my favorite areas to base myself, vibe is laid-back, making it a great place to start your evening but also a very strategic option for those who like to do everything on foot, just 3 minutes walk to LK Metro, 5 mins to Soi Buakhao and under 10 mins to the beach, Central Festival mall or the beer bar enclaves of Soi 7 & 8, with lot’s of cheap baht buses routes along the way. The hotel is appointed in the distinct LK vintage European style, which might not exactly be the most modern theme out there but what I love about them is quality and comfort found in their rooms. 1st the bedding is always extremely comfortable, so great in fact I literally slept 10 hours straight on the first night on arrival, 2nd there’s the size of the rooms, at 60 square meters my superior room enjoyed about double of the living space than your average Pattaya hotel, then there’s little perks of being geared towards the guest friendly market like the Jacuzzi or whirlpool […]
33/154 M.10 Pattaya City , Banglamung, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand
The LK Royal Wing is located on dead-end lane about 100m down Soi Buakhao, making it very close to the action but just far enough from the main road to be quiet at night. Lots of nightlife within easy walking distance: Soi 7 & 8 are around 8-10 mins away, while the Soi Diana and Soi LK Metro area can be reached in a 15 minutes leisurely stroll down soi Buakhao. I Gave try at their Studio room and found it very decently sized at 36 sq.m, typical LK chain room furniture which is quite goood, extremely comfortable king size bed, LCD TV with a decent selection choice non-Thai channels and movies, loaded mini-bar, heaps of cupboard space, safe, bathroom with no bathtub but great shower, good selection of toiletries provided, coffee & tea making facilities, many electricity outlets for your electronic devices. Room also has a balcony but the the a/c unit outside blowing hot air at you didn’t make it a very enjoyable stay. The amenities at the LK Royal Wing hotel are quite limited, you will find no restaurant or bar but there’s is a large swimming pool found on the rooftop that gets sun all day. […]
LK Royal Wing Hotel 66/44 Moo 9, Soi Buakhao, Central Pattaya Road, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand
The Mac Boutique Suites Hotel is located on the very quiet soi 7, just 300 meters up from from the Nana BTS station so gaining access to the nightlife or Red light districts of Bangkok from here is a breeze. The Mac Boutique is a cheap no-frills 3-star hotel offering inexpensive studio apartments and one-bedroom suites which can be a bit of a mixed big, mostly good but also a little patchy depending which you are allocated. Facilities are pretty much limited to their bar and restaurant, so if you need a pool, spa or gym you can look somewhere else. Rooms are comfortable and clean, furnished with funky zebra print chairs and sofas, dual flat-screen TVs, fridge and everything one would need but by giving a closer look it’s obvious they could do with some renovations but not bad for the price and location especially if you are traveling to Bangkok on a budget or don’t want to bust your budget on accommodations. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
20 Sukhumvit Soi 7, Klongtoey Nue, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
The Manathai Koh Samui is Located at the northern tip of Lamai beach, about a 15-20 minutes walk from the beer bars and nightlife of the Lamai center. The resort is split in two by a road, the main hotel portion of the resort itself is quite beautiful, reminiscent of an old colonial house with a small pool, two restaurants and a pub on site. The main pool and beach club are on the other side, it’s pool is big and the view overlooking the sea is very pleasant, waterline bar next to it is excellent, lots of sun loungers around to sit back and relax. Staff are very polite and friendly, the food here is also quite good although a bit expensive. Beachfront is a little disappointing as it at the top of a cove with rocks, shallow with no direct swimming area at all, for that you will need to walk a further 500 meters further down to find very nice swimming beach. Booked a deluxe room on the ground floor with a private outdoor patio, decently sized at 32 m², bed is super comfy and large, TV reception a little is fuzzy, reasonably priced mini-bar, plenty of power […]
173/41 Moo 4, Rob Koh Road, Lamai Beach, Lamai, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
The Marina Beach Resort is an excellent no frills beachfront accommodation, set a bit back from the main road so quiet and relaxing once inside but only 5 minutes walk to the beer bars, wide stretch of beach and sand right on the doorstep, perfect for swimming and sunbathing, deck chairs available as well as free towels, small pool seen better days. Tried the bungalow category, which are not exactly stand-alone but more like a duplex, quite basic and old-fashioned, bed was too firm to my taste, Wifi slow, otherwise rest of the amenities: Air conditioner, TV, safe, bathroom/shower satisfactory. Nice little balcony to pop open a beer, no noise from the bars. Cheaper rooms are also available in the main building but haven’t tried yet. Overall while in the budget category, the resort offers good value for money, the location is top with the beach almost at your front door and the nightlife just 5 minutes walk away. Recommended! The Mercure Pattaya Hotel is ideally situated smack in the middle of Central Pattaya just 10 to 15 minutes walk from all the main hotspots that the city has to offer, so getting to such places such as: Walking Street, Soi Diana, LK Metro and beach road is really a breeze. A 24-hour tuk tuk service is also offered from the Hotel to Pattaya 2nd and vice versa. Another bonus of staying here is since it’s tucked down a quiet side street you get to enjoy good nights sleep without hearing the constant hustle and noise of the surrounding bars & party goers. The rooms, although not very large are clean and properly maintained, fully equipped with all the usual facilities. I’ve noticed the upper floors had been recently refurbished so try and ask for a higher floor on arrival. The highlight at the Mercure Pattaya is their large pool and bar area, which is bathed in sunshine for several hours each day and will provide you many hours of relaxation on your downtime. Great option for Central Pattaya: Well priced property, nice pool, quiet/handy location, awarded the Certificate of Excellence award by TripAdvisor. Have a look above for the […]
484 Moo 10, Pattaya Second Road Soi 15, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand
The Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok is conveniently located about midway from Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy, so getting to any of the two best red-light districts of Bangkok on foot should take you no more than 10 to 15 minutes. Alternatively, a free complimentary tuk-tuk service is also available to both Nana & Asoke stations which should cut at least in two the travel distance. Squeezed in between high-rises, the Movenpick Hotel is of small size compared to many neighboring big-brand hotels but it’s building and public areas are stunning, the service is very welcoming and personnel, you can feel Swiss quality and Thai hospitality are all about the hotel. The Movenpick is split into two low rise buildings, which are interconnected at the roof, the rooftop pool and lounge area was nice and relaxing. Bar on the same levels offers a good selection of drinks with a daily 2 for 1 Happy hour at 6PM on cocktails. Rooms are modern and well designed rooms, not excessively large at 30 sq.m but equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay: Good King size bed, desk, LED-TV with about 30 channels, high speed internet and a spacious bathroom. Very high […]
47 Sukhumvit Soi 15 Klongtoey, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
The Nova Gold Hotel is located in a quieter part of town that’s a little off the grid, but really not that far from the action as the walk to Pattaya 2nd Road is around 10 minutes from where you up almost directly en up just opposite from the to the beer bars of Soi 6. Hotel also offers complimentary transportation to and from Central Pattaya Road (nearer to Soi 7) & 2nd road (between Soi 6/1 and Soi 6). The Nova Goldis definitely not the best 4-star category hotel in Pattaya but it is one of the cheapest and offers some excellent value for money. That said, the amenities are quite limited, by staying here you’ll have to live with the fact there there isn’t an in-house restaurant and that you can’t sun-bathe by the pool since it’s on the ground floor and completely in the shade. Guests can, however, use the larger rooftop pool of their sister Amari Nova Suites hotel just 2 minutes away. Rooms are well appointed and all feature a balcony, king size bed (a bit firm, but nothing outside of the usual Thai standards), bathrooms with both bath tub and separate shower, small flat […]
80/166 Moo 9,Nongprue, Banglamung, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand
The Nova Samui Resort is positioned on a steep hill around Chaweng lake, in a quiet area just 10 to 15 minutes walk to Soi Green Mango and the beach, it’s lush tropical grounds surroundings make it idea for those who want to relax and detox during the daytime away from the main strip, the swimming pool and bar area, probably the main selling point for the resort is clean and very inviting. Do keep in mind that having a room on the hill won’t be ideal for those who have any mobility issues, as there were in my case exactly 139 steps from reception to the room. Rooms are cleaned daily and pleasant, maybe a little dated, but nothing to worry about. Essentials are covered: Beds are comfortable, TV offers a selection of a few English speaking channels, the small mini bar is well stocked, a tiny electronic safe is provided, free Wi-Fi. Every room also has its own balcony you can sit out and relax to the sounds of nature while enjoying a cold beer. Overall good value for money, definitely not a luxury resort but nicely located, just far away from the noise of the party street […]
147/3 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach, Bophut, Ko Samui 84320, Thailand
The O.P Bungalow offers a great budget option for travelers looking for a beachfront resort within walking distance from Chaweng’s busy nightlife area. Resort is beautifully laid out on tropical gardens, beach only a few meters from the bungalows, easygoing restaurant with tables in the sand, very helpful beach staff who setup your sun loungers anywhere you like, cozy little beach bar with good drinks and slow music, long happy hour 100 THB cocktails offered until in the evening. Very relaxing vibe going on, you actually don’t realize just how close the busy Chaweng streets. Limited facilities besides that: No pool, gym, etc. Bungalows are very rustic in nature, clean and simple. Each has it’s own little balcony with chairs overlooking over the tropical gardens. Interior looks more like a hotel room than a bungalows but all the essential are provided: Adjustable A/C unit keeps you cool, big fridge with cold drinks available priced the same as the restaurant, comfy bed, safe in the room, bathroom been renovated recently and has a good hot shower & lots of water pressure. Few downsides: Very basic toiletries set not replenished, Older CRT TV has fuzzy reception and is short on channels, WiFi […]
111 Moo 2, Chaweng Beach, Chaweng Koh Samui 84320, Thailand
Conveniently located right on Soi 4, the Omni Tower Sukhumvit is right at the heart of Bangkok’s redlight district. While this place has been a popular choice over the last two decades for budget minded travelers looking to rent cheap serviced apartments only minutes from Nana Plaza, there’s been in the last few years a slow but steady decline in the state of the property. One problem seems to be that the condo units are now managed by so many different companies and owners that it’s become a hit and miss type of situation, while some are fine, other are truly dumps. So one’s individual experience here can be completely different. All I can recommend is if you ever do book here try to ask at the reception when checking in one of the units with wood floors and not carpeting, they seem to be the ones in best condition. Keep in mind that overall that the Studio and One-Bedroom Suite are worn and poorly maintained. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
69/37 Sukhumvit Soi 4, Nana, Khwaeng Khlong Toei, Khet Khlong Toei, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10110, Thailand
Orchid Resortel is a great little inexpensive 3-star hotel in a prime location only 3 mins walking distance from Bangla road and 7 mins from the Patong beach. Hotel amenities include a small rooftop pool and bar overlooking soi sansabai, a sauna and a 24 hrs restaurant and bar on ground level facing the street. Very well run joint from what I noticed, all areas are kept spotlessly clean, service is good and staff are very friendly. The standard room are not decorated up to latest fashion, but clean and equipped with all the essentials. You can expect to find: Large beds (a little hard, but ok), flat-screen TV with a wide variety of channels and languages, apartment size fridge with plenty of space for your drinks, quiet but efficient AC unit, small electronic safe to store your valuables. Bed linens and towels did show a bit of wear and tear but they were cleaned and changed daily. Room at the back have no noise from the street, however the doors were thin and soundproofing not the best, you could easily hear other guests passing by and talking in the hallways, light sleepers should definitely bring some ear plugs. Overall, considering […]
169/24,28-29 Soi SanSabai, Patong, Kathu, Phuket , Thailand 83150
Patong Hemingway’s Hotel is a nice little 3.5-star hotel located just 5 mins walking distance from the main girly bar entertainment area of Patong, Bangla road. One advantage of staying here is since it’s tucked in a quiet alley far just off Soi Sansaban it’s sheltered from the noise and almost all the traffic so it’s surprisingly quiet at night. Rooms are quite compact but nicely maintained and clean, nothing really special but not bad for the price. All the basic commodities are provided: King size bed bit little bit too firm to my taste but nothing lose sleep over it, flat-screen TV had an ample selection of cable channels (image a bit grainy), adequate air conditioning system, in room electronic safe, bathroom & shower with proper water pressure (but the place does floods easily), adequate closet space, kettle for tea/coffee & mini bar provided, linen and towels changed every day, small balcony to have a smoke on or relax on, room did exceeded my expectations for the price range. Few negatives: WiFi was inconsistent when inside the room and sound proofing isn’t great, especially if you end up with noisy neighbors. Hotel amenities include a rooftop area with swimming […]
179/95-98 Soi Sansabai, Patong, Phuket, Thailand, 83150
One of the strong points of the Patong Resort Hotel is it’s amazing location right in the center of the hustle and bustle of Patong, staying here means you’ll never be more than 5 minutes walk away from all the major attractions: Beach, nightlife and Jungceylon (Phuket’s biggest shopping mall), you even get to enjoy a private access path, manned by hotel security that ends right out onto Bangla road, Phuket’s party street. Another advantage of residing in this large sprawling resort with over 325 rooms is once inside, everything becomes amazingly quiet and peaceful due to the fact you are nestled back from the roads. Rooms are spacious and comfortable without being lavish. Highlights are the two wonderful and relaxing swimming pools with lounge chairs and bar service. All the amenities, gardens, restaurants and grounds are very clean and well kept. While the Patong Resort has been well maintained over the years, it is slowly starting to show it’s age when compared to many of newer accommodations that have sprung out in Patong. Overall a good solid base for those who want to want a guest friendly resort close to all the action and party at night but are also […]
208 Raj-uthit 200 Pee Road, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Patong Studio Apartments offers of mix of dorm style rooms and studio appointments, from the outside the building looks far from inviting, common areas inside are not much better with dark and dingy corridors and slow elevators that take forever to get to their destination. Luckily the idiom not to judge a book by its cover comes to play here and the studios or one bedrooms apartments they offer are in better shape. Make no mistake, these are still low budget apartments but everything is functional. Room are kept clean and tidy, beds are comfortable, amenities include a big LCD TV with cable, kitchenette equipped with a microwave, stove for cooking and a large refrigerator. Big wardrobe for storage, good air conditioning and a somewhat patchy WiFi. Location is ok, a bit set back from the main road about a 10 min walk away from Patong beach and 15 min away from Bangla Road, no noise at night. Overall not bad low budget apartments but the outside of the building is an eyesore and in seriously needs a revamp. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
47 Rat-U-Thid Road 200, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Pattra Vill is a beautiful resort right at the heart of Lamai, literally right nextdoor to the towns largest concentration of beer bars and nightlife: Beer Bar Central and only a 6 minute walk to the lovely Lamai beach. Situated in a well-maintained, beautiful garden, the highlight is certainly the large and inviting swimming at it’s center, the perfect antidote to a long night out partying. The accommodations, which make up a total of 22 rooms or villas are all very spacious with high ceilings. The smallest room category at the The Pattra Vill Resort starts at 50 m² and come equipped with everything you need: Beautiful finishes, great mattress, linen, and pillows, larger-than-bar-size fridge, flat-screen TV, Reliable and fast WiFi signal, kitchenette, front patio to relax on, etc. If you enjoy partying all night and you want to be staying as close to everything as humanly possible, to after go back and fall into your private little comfort space, then this is definitely the place to be. Maybe a little expensive but if you got the budget, this is wonderful new resort with great accommodations, a big and inviting pool surrounded by a beautiful garden at an unbeatable location […]
124/329 Moo 3, Lamai, Maret,Surat Thani, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
PJ Patong Resortel is conveniently tucked off from the main road down a quiet little cul de sac, so while the location is quite central, 10 minutes walk from bangla road and around 15 mins from the beach, exterior noise is very minimal and won’t disturb one’s night rest. Rooms are very well maintained with lots room for you to unpack your luggage, bedding comfortable, amenities modern: Cable tv, fridge below it, safe, kettle, internet worked well enough (few disconnects), showers were warm, all the your basic needs covered. Hotel is small in size with only 32 rooms spread over 6 floors, facilities are far from extravagant and are limited to a swimming pool with sun terrace on the top floor and a restaurant/bar on ground floor. Pool is small in size and only good for a refreshing dip, still a nice place to go and relax enjoy the city and mountain view. Friendly staff, Everyone knew or at the very least understood English. In the end: Very close to the nightlife, not far from the beach, rooms cleaned everyday, good value for money. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
98/1-2 Pungmungsai-Kor Road, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok is a new property located right at the heart of Sukhumvit just a couple of minutes walk from Soi Cowboy and only one block from to the Aoke BTS Skytrain & Sukumvit MRT subway station, so getting anywhere in Bangkok from here couldn’t be any easier. An opulent and trendy decor runs across the entire hotel (Similar to a W-style), bar at the lobby offers guests free complimentary service from 5-7 PM on all kinds of drinks and upscale snacks, service is simply first class, roof top pool and bar area on the 6th floor is very relaxing, plenty of loungers/shade and floodlit at night. Stayed in the deluxe category for two nights, excellent brand new rooms, luxurious bedding, decent amount of space with small sofa area, nice bathroom with large shower cubicle and separate bath, good internet, electrical outlets are abounded. Pretty much what you expect from Radisson Blu. Overall a great stay in a very reasonably priced 5 star hotel. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
23/2 Sukhumvit 13, Sukhumvit Road, Klongtoey Nua, Wattana, Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand
The Radisson suites Bangkok is located on a quiet alley in Soi 13. It’s quite a walk, around 15-20 minutes from the Red-light districts of Nana or Soi Cowboys; however, the hotel does provide a free tuk-tuk ride to terminal 21, which is just next-door to Soi Cowboy. The rooms or suites are tastefully furnished with ample space in the living room and bedroom. Hotel facilities include a hot tub, fitness center & outdoor pool. The bigger than average rooms, 5-Star rating and close proximity to the BTS for all that Sukhumvit and Bangkok has to offer are three great reasons you should stay at Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit.
23/2-3 Sukhumvit 13, Sukhumvit Road, Klongtoey Nua, Wattana, Bangkok, Thailand
The S15 is a small luxury boutique property centrally located on Sukhumvit road just a stone’s throw away from Thermae Bar, one of the oldest freelancer pickup hotspot in Bangkok. The Hotel is also conveniently situated halfway between the red-light districts of Nana Plaza (to the left) and Soi Cowboy (to the right), which can both be reached in an easy 15 minutes leisurely walk. Interior of the property is very modern and trendy, with tones of of beige, brown and cream. Facilities are limited to a spa and gym on the seventh floor and a mezzanine Café on the second, so if you require a proper pool and bar area you’ll have to look elsewhere. Otherwise it’s a pretty solid option, rooms are tastefully designed, very comfy bed and pillows, linen is fresh and crisp, Large flat-screen TV, good quality fittings, bathroom size is quite generous and is equipped with separate walk in rain shower and a large bathtub. Although the hotel is on a very busy road, the sound insulation is great. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The S15 Sukhumvit Hotel have been in business for just about a decade now and still get Awarded the Certificate of […]
217 Sukhumvit 15, Klongtoey Nua, Bangkok, Bangkok, 10110, Thailand
The Samui Beach Resort is secluded on the quieter southern of Lamai and is best for those looking for a very relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds. While still within walking distance (15-20 mins) from the main beer bar area just renting out one of their scooters at 200 baht/day would make sense to come and go as you please especially at night. The resort is generally very good value for money year round, definitely not in the high-end category but got all the basics covered for a good stay: Lovely gardens with plenty of places to lounge around, small swimming pool, a restaurant/bar all just a few meters from the beach. The accommodation ranges from older rooms in a two stories building to classic garden bungalows and a more posh deluxe beachfront bungalows category. Personally tried only garden bungalows, no real issues found, kept fairly clean, AC worked perfectly, good bed, flat screen-TV with good reception, mini-bar, maybe the WiFi not too stable, dropping out here and there otherwise no complaints. In the end a great little budget resort at the end of Lamai beach, bit of a walk to town, recommended to have rent a scooter or be ready to […]
124/11 Moo 3, Lamai Beach, Lamai, Maret, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
The Samui First House Resort enjoys a nice and quiet location along Chaweng’s southern end. Sandwiched right in-between Chaweng and Chaweng Noi beaches, you can easily access both under 5 mins walk. The resort built it’s own a private bridge which backs out onto directly onto Chaweng Noi in about 2-3 minutes, where plenty of sun loungers sunbeds and umbrellas (no charge) await you. The sand is a little more course than on the main Chaweng drag but it’s a more secluded and private area, sea is warm and blue with lots of tropical fishes swimming around, beachfront hotels you will find along it are also typically more higher-end. The resort itself is split into two different building, which offer different comfort levels. Standard rooms are located in the budget older wing with little or no view while newer main building, shaped like a little like cruise ship, host the more comfortable deluxe rooms around the pool. Bear in mind, that regardless of the room category you chose room, the main reason for staying in this ageing resort is the direct access to Chaweng Noi beach. Though you can reach the center quite easily using the songthaew (public shared taxi) […]
4 Moo 3, Chaweng, Bophut, Suratthani, Ko Samui, Thailand 84320
The Samui Island Beach is not the newest of resorts, but will please those looking for simple and affordable beachfront accommodations just outside of the main Chaweng strip. Town is still quite easily accessible by road with a 5-minutes tuk-tuk ride or a longer 20-minutes walk via the beach. Location is perfect for those who love to have some daytime relaxation by the pool and bar overlooking the ocean. The beach is only accessible at low tide, the rest of the time the water comes right up to the edge of the resort, making it more like sitting by a pier. The Samui Island Beach Resort offers modest bungalows, beds are comfortable but the older amenities could definitely do with a little TLC. However despite being in need of some updating, the rooms are kept clean and the bedding/towels changed daily. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Should please those looking for a quiet and no-frills beachfront accommodation outside of the main Chaweng strip. Have a look below for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
154/3 Moo 2, Chaweng Beach Road, Chaweng, Koh Samui 84320, Thailand
The Samui Laguna Resort enjoys a good location on a quiet part of the beach just a 5-10 minutes walk from all the pubs and beer bars of the town center. This part of the beach is fairly large, clean and the sea is good to swim in. Amenities include a nice little swimming pool and a beachfront restaurant offering a generous Happy hour from 12pm to 7pm with plenty of sun loungers around. They offer bungalows near the beach and a cheaper rooms in their main building. The bungalow are a bit old fashioned but fairly large in size at 40 m²/431 ft² with a generous verandas, not luxurious but in the 3-star category, maids do a decent job at keeping the place spotless. Bit disappointed by the old crt type TV and the fact there is no electronic safe in the room, otherwise everything else was of good standard. In this end good value for money, short walking distance from the bars, bungalows close to the beach, pool and bar with long happy hours, what more do you want or need? Have a look below for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
124/103 Moo 3, Lamai Beach, Lamai, Maret, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
The Samui Seabreeze Place Hotel is located in a quieter end of Lamai just a very short, hundred or so meters walk from the beach across the road. Nightlife and Beer Bar Central are also conveniently located only two hundred meters away down the road. Atmosphere is Friendly and chilled, the main building could do with a little TLC here and there but otherwise but the pool area and facilities are in great shape. Rooms themselves are quite small, but clean and functional with all the basic necessities: Mini-bar, proper air-con, electronic safe, older TV set with a decent selection of stations, WiFi, decent enough walk-in shower with hot water and a balcony. Never been bothered by any noise at night from the nightlife area as you could hardly even hear it from the balcony. No restaurant in house, but all you need to do is cross the street to their sister resort, the Sea Breeze Bungalows from where you can enjoy a meal and all their beachfront facilities. In the end a nice little no-frills hotel in a quiet location, close to the beach with a nice little swimming pool. Have a look below for the pictures I have […]
124/446 Moo 3, T. Maret, Lamai, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
The Sand Sea Resort & Spa is a beachfront hotel within a 15-20 minutes walking distance from the beer bars of Lamai. Beach was quiet, great swimming areas all around, perfect for those looking for a relaxing stay. Don’t come here expecting for luxury, resort is simple and basic with some parts a little run down but the bungalows are just a few footsteps from beach, plenty of sunbeds available, swimming pool is nice and deep, loved the laid-back vibe at the beachfront bar and restaurant, staff are friendly and happy. Do go for a sea front bungalows or suite if you can afford them, they are amazing. Overall, the resort could do with a little TLC here and there otherwise great little unpretentious beachfront resort in a quiet part of the beach just a short walk from the centre of Lamai. Have a look below for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
155 Moo 4, Lamai Beach, Lamai, Maret, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
If you are looking for a hotel smack in the middle of everything, the Sandy Spring’s prime location on Soi 13 is really hard to beat. Just a 2-3 mins walk gets you to either beach road or Pattaya 2nd road and within less than a 10 minutes stroll you can access all the best than Pattaya has to offer: Walking street, Soi LK Metro, Central Festival and Soi 7&8. While the Sandy Spring will meet most people’s basic need and the staff are wonderful, the majority of their rooms do feel dated and stuck somewhere in the ’90’s which does not make them terribly attractive. Luckily I’ve noticed some renovations have been going on recently and they now also offer a newer category of deluxe and standard rooms that have been remodelled and look much better. Hopefully within a year or two all the rooms go through this process. Hotel amenities include a pool area on the 3rd floor that gets generous amounts of sunshine every day from where you can order drinks and food. The Sandy Spring owner has expanded over the years due to popularity opening the more modern on “Sea Me Spring”, “Sea Me Spring Too” and […]
494 Moo 10, Pattaya Beach Road, Pattaya, Thailand
The Sans Souci Samui is located right at the southern end of Chaweng beach, resort is is a complex of 22 bungalows built around a beautiful garden courtyard just a few seconds walk from the beachfront. Rooms are decorated in Thai style, with dark mahogany paneling and furniture, a little old fashioned but very clean, beds are lovely, fresh bed-linen and towels are changed everyday. There are a few caveats that could turn off some people: No safe in the room, older generation TV set with fuzzy reception, WiFi is very patchy and there’s no swimming pool, but somehow this never stopped me from coming back, beachfront location is is divine, regularly cleaned and swept by the hotel employees and so much quieter than the locations further up north. Whole resort has some kind of sanctuary feel to it with it’s well manicured tropical grounds, restaurant overlooking beach, simple yet very comfortable rooms. Staff are also wonderful and super friendly, they really are good at making you feel at home immediately. Keep in mind the nightlife is a good 20 to 30 minutes away but at the same time just a short songthaew (public transport) ride away. In the end […]
4/4 Moo 3 T. Bophut, Chaweng Beach, Chaweng, Koh Samui 84320, Thailand
The Seascape Beach Resort is a good option for travellers on a budget looking for a beachfront resort. Located on the quieter southern end of Chaweng Beach, it’s about a 20 to 25 minutes walk from Soi Green Mango, the center of Chaweng’s nightlife. While a little tired in some areas, the Seascape still offers some very decent value for money. Pool is small and in need of an upgrade but the beach was clean and well looked after. The staff were very attentive and always ready to find you some space to fit you with a sun lounger and parasol around the pool or at the beach. Resort has its own restaurant as well as beach bar snacks. Drinks and bar meals always brought to you swiftly on request. Deluxe rooms are clean, bright and spacious with a big balcony overlooking the garden. Amenities include a comfortable king size bed, TV, air-con, free WiFi throughout the resort, all you need really, if I was to be picky I’d say the shower didn’t have much water pressure. No elevator might be a problem for those with mobility issues but the building is only 3 floors high. Free breakfast is sufficient […]

If you are looking for quality serviced apartments right at the door steps of Bangkok’s biggest adult entertainment district, look no further than the Shama Sukhumvit. You will find dozens of bars, clubs, massage parlors and the strip clubs of Nana Plaza within 100 meters of the hotel. Shama’s furnished apartments are not the cheapest if compared to the ones on offer at the Omni tower further down the road but are in a totally different class. Rooms here are beautiful, look brand new and have good quality furniture, housekeeping makes sure that it stays clean throughout your whole stay. Hotel amenities include a infinity pool with great view of over the Sukhumvit area and a gym. The size of the apartments, starting at 66 sq.m is more than adequate and about double the size of your average Bangkok hotel room. Recipient of TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence.
39/1 Sukhumvit Soi2, Klongtoey, Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand
The Siam@Siam Design Hotel is a trendy new property located a short walk from the beach at the quieter end of Pattaya on Soi 2 that has a lovely sophisticated style and atmosphere running throughout the hotel. Really enjoyed the quirky decor mixing of modern and industrial themes, the bars and restaurant are very funky. Best feature is their sky bar and two rooftop pool areas offering a fantastic 360 degree views over the Pattaya, you could definitely sit here all day to just admiring the stunning view sipping on beer. Every room is uniquely decorated with a modern contemporary design so it’s never exactly like the one next to yours, has a comfy bed and pillows, nice seating area , good selection of entertainment and movie channels, cool & quiet air-con. Has been consistently Awarded TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence year after year. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
390 Pattaya 2nd road, Nong Prue, Banglamung, North Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand
The SilQ Bangkok is a small boutique hotel tucked in a quiet location only 10 minutes walk from Soi Cowboy, commuting anywhere in Bangkok from here is a breeze since the Asoke BTS and Sukhumvit MRT are only 150 meters away. The hotel is relatively new and it’s decor is smart and modern, you can see lots of thought have gone into the details. Rooms are big and spotless with wooden flooring, furniture is of good standards, bed has a comfortable medium soft mattress, wall-mounted flat screen TV, air-con and WiFi both worked flawlessly, lovely bathroom design with large walk in shower, lots of free toiletries. The SilQ is actually excellent for the price, but only if you don’t require a pool or fitness room. Amenities are limited to just a restaurant and bar in front of the reception which does serve some fantastic cocktails. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
54 Sukhumvit 19 (wattana) Klong toey Nua, Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand, 10110 agoda
The Silver Resortel is a great little inexpensive 3-star hotel with a very central location, just a few minutes walk from Patong beach and at most 10 mins from the naughty nightlife of Bangla Road. Rooms are slightly on the smaller side but well maintained and furnished with all the essentials: TV, mini bar, A/C, safety deposit box and WiFi. Only thing missing that I noticed was the tea and coffee, strangely they only provide the electric boiler. Beds are your typical Thai style, a bit firm for westerners but nonetheless comfortable. Staff are friendly and can speak and understand basic English. Trade-off are the facilities, which are limited to a restaurant and bar but honestly for this price and location in Patong you will be hard pressed to find a better deal. Awarded year after year the Certificate of Excellence award by TripAdvidor, I can definitely recommend the Silver Resortel to anyone on a budget coming to Patong. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
3/37 Sawadirak Road, Kathu, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Sira Grande Hotel is a lovely modern 4-Star Hotel just a block away from all the action. Bangla Road, Patong beach and the Jungceylon Shopping are all within an easy 5-10 minutes walk. Rooms are well designed, not the biggest in size but have comfortable beds with high quality linen. Amenities offered are quite decent: Flat-screen TV with numerous English channels, good powerful air conditioner, well stocked mini-bar, electronic safe, lots of power points, good view from the balcony, complimentary water, coffee, tea and sugar everyday. Just minor wear & tear noticed, small scuff marks on the walls from suitcases/bags but nothing to worry about. Facilities include a nice little rooftop area with pool and bar, great spot for catching the sun rays, lots of sun loungers and beanbags to sit and relax on, good daily happy hour with cheap cocktails, food available. The fitness area is poor, but ok for a little basic exercise. Restaurant downstairs is good, though a little expensive, staff always on hand to assist. Overall it was a very good experience. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
184/44-47 Phungmuang Sai Kor, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Swissotel Resort Phuket Patong Beach is a great 5-star guest friendly option in Phuket. Location wise it’s excellent, just a stone throw distance from Patong beach and directly connected with the Hooters and Hard Rock Cafe. Nightlife and girly bar action of Bangla Road are about a 10 minutes walk away. The resort, which is imposing in size resembles to an olden days white colonial building. While not the newest of properties, the buildings and common areas are clean and well-maintained. Facilities worth mentioning are the two swimming pools, one smaller on the rooftop with Ibiza style lounge chairs with bar offering views over the sea and a second, bigger with swim up bar on the 3rd floor. Rooms are neat, clean and and well appointed, suites come at a little premium but have that nice all glass bathroom with a huge 2 person tub that no doubt will be a pleasure to share with that special someone you’ve picked up on Bangla road. Another thing worth mentioning is the high level of customer service, you can ask for pretty much anything and they are eager to help you.Overall a good experience, good location, nice pools but there is […]
48 Ruam Jai Road, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Crystal Beach is a small family owned hotel offering 40 guest rooms. Built in 2015, the property is still reasonably new, rooms are nothing spectacular but clean and well maintained, big comfortable bed, hot showers, A/C does a great job to cool the place really quick when needed, very good a good signal WiFi signal. Small balcony to hang your wet clothes, not much noise from surrounding streets, TV, fridge, electronic safe, kettle and water provided but no complimentary coffee/tea provided. Buffet breakfast available but really nothing special, plenty of better options outside. Facilities include a small swimming pool on the rooftop, great for a quick dip & chill with some nice views of the sea and surrounding mountain, missing a bar. Location is quite nice, surrounded by a multitude of happy ending massage parlors, Hooters and Hard Rock cafe are 2 only minutes away, 3 minutes walk from the beach and 10 mins from the famous Bangla road nightlife. Overall perfect base for the single male traveler, basic but clean rooms, walking distance to everything, nice little rooftop pool, staff has limited English skill do their best to help, awarded TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence. 212/4-7 Soi Keb-Sub Rat-U-Thid 200 Pee Road, Patong, Thailand 83150
The Front Hotel and Apartments is very appealing in terms of location, across the road at the quieter end of Patong just 10 meters from the beach. Bangla road is about a 15 minutes walk from here. The hotel is split in two 4 story blocks, one building with apartments/suites and the other with more regular hotel rooms. The apartment category are particularly spacious and offer fantastic panoramic sea view from it’s glass fronted rooms and balconies. In comparison the rooms in the regular hotel building are just average, decor could really do with a refurb. Further more this part has no elevator, so those 3rd or 4th floor hikes up and down can get quite annoying after a while especially for older guests. Hard to really recommend, best suited for those who are looking for a location right across from beach. The sea view alone from some apartments could justify the price, otherwise quite average. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
30 - 38 Thaveewong Rd, Patong Beach, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150,
The Lunar Patong is a newly-opened 3.5-Star property located right on the main road near the northern end of Patong, just five minutes from a very nice area of the beach and within a 10 to 12 mins walk from the bustling nightlife of Bangla road. The resort is only about 3 years old so all the amenities are modern and new. Facilities highlight is the infinity pool with sundeck that runs across the length of the building. Rooms have a good feel, some with direct access to the swimming pool. Rooms are quite spacious, furniture and finishes are new with a nice comfortable design. Amenities include: 32 inch flat-screen TV, small couch, mini-bar, WiFi, safe, coffee/tea making facilities, small private balcony with table and 2 chairs. Above average, great location near the beach, nice pool, good overall value. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
31/1 Rat-Uthit 200 Pee Road, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Stay Hotel is conveniently located in the center of Pattaya on the relatively quiet soi 10, just a 2-minute walk from Pattaya Beach and 2nd road. All the popular nightspots are close-by: Soi Diana, Soi LK Metro & Soi Buakhao are within an easy 10-minutes stroll while Walking Street can be reached in a 15 minutes slow paced walk. Hotel is modern and quite nice, rooms are spacious and well maintained, beds and pillows are are a little firm but still comfortable, all the usual amenities were provided: flat screen TV with lots of English TV choices, in room safe, mini bar, reliable wi-fi, plenty of storage space, air-con works very well, Great shower. Most of the rooms face Soi 10 and have a big balcony with a coffee table and 2 chairs overlooking the street. Staff extremely polite and helpful, very easy with overnight guests, good security. Facilities include a pool area on the rooftop with a plenty of sun-beds around and bar service making it a an enjoyable place to relax at or nurse a hangover. I’ve noticed prices have gone up a bit since they got the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence but still a decent value for money. Have a […]
343/20 Moo.10, Pattaya Soi.10, Nongprue, Banglamung, Pattaya Beach Road, Pattaya, Thailand
Tony Resort is an older property with a great location slap bang in the center of Patong, 3 minute walk to the beach down a small alleyway and 5 minutes from Bangla Road. The resort has two separate buildings, one looking overlooking the pool and another at the back. Pool itself is large and very relaxing with ample deck chairs with umbrellas, opened late until 10PM and extremely well maintained, good in-house restaurant and bar, breakfast buffet is nice, but basic, WiFi good and reliable. Rooms were very spacious and clean but are seriously starting to show their age with the dated decor and furniture, not a massive range of channels on the old style crt TV, kettle in room but missing the coffee and tea, showers hot with good water pressure. Overall great location close to everything, nice pool are but older resort and rooms in need of some serious TLC. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
206/30 Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road, Patong, Phuket, Thailand 83150
The Travelodge is a new and modern hotel situated just behind the Avenue mall. Location is quiet and especially convenient for those who enjoy the party scene in Soi Diana, Soi LK Metro & Soi Buakhao which are only a few minutes walk away. The beach and Walking street are about 10 to 15 minutes away respectively. Looking at the price, the Travelodge Pattaya seems like a very good bang for your buck, hotel looks new, they have a great little swimming pool area on the rooftop with a set limited loungers along with a very decent restaurant. The rooms are modern and nicely decorated, everything is kept very clean, Beds are really comfy, same goes with the pillows, air con is very quiet, bathroom has a powerful hot shower. The only issue is that their rooms are all extremely compact at 20 sq.m. so they are not for those who plan to spend any extended time in your room. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities. Awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2018.
236/26 Moo10, Soi 15 & Pattaya 2nd Road, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand, 20260
Nested on a steep hill top about a 10 minutes walk from the Lamai viewpoint, the Tropical Sea View Residence is made up of modern studios and apartments offering gorgeous views over Lamai beach. Rooms are large, comfortable and have all the modern amenities you could expect from a private residence, TV’s all the rooms, WiFi, kitchenette, efficient and quiet air con units, ample wardrobe and storage, floor to ceiling glass partitions and large terraces with in a Jacuzzi in case of the deluxe category apartments. Common area only include a swimming pool, staff is polite and very easy going, but do keep in mind these are not serviced private residences so cleaning and change of bed linen/towels only occurs twice a week. Renting out your own transportation vehicle or motor bike is also a necessity as it’s otherwise a harrowing task up and down into town every day. Highly recommended for those looking for private modern residences with magnificent views over Lamai beach from your balcony. Have a look below for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
127/232 Moo 3, Lamai, Surat Thani, Ko Samui 84310, Thailand
The Varinda Garden is a very unique resort perched on a hilltop overlooking the ocean and south Lamai Beach, it is a little hard to give an exact description, because it is so many things at once. Over the course of 20 years, the same Thai family has been running the resort, what started out as a few simple huts on Lamai beach developed into a sprawling laid back hill oasis. The multi-level design offers lots different areas to explore, to best sum it up the Varinda Garden Resort is one part hippy counter-culture, one part artistic melange and one part tropical jungle oasis. It’s impossible to walk around it at first without having a smile with the multitude of different little visual aspects and funky decorations all around. The bungalows are set in a lush tropical garden setting, surrounded in think vegetation and secluded from one and other so you’ll hardly hear or know any other people around. While rustic they are quite cozy. The resort has is a lovely infinity pool area and restaurant offering open view over the bay. Above of which there is a huge, again open view lounge area with hammocks and chairs to relax […]
82/3 Moo 3 T. Maret, Lamai, Koh Samui, Suratthani 84310, Thailand
The Weekender Resort is conveniently located right on the beachfront and within 5 minutes walking distance from the naughty nightlife of Lamai. Facilities at this upscale 4-star resort are excellent, quiet and spacious surroundings, neat and tidy gardens, fantastic infinity pool with plenty of beds leading straight onto a portion of the beach that is ideal for swimming, gorgeous views from the beach front, restaurant and bar a little on the expensive side. Standard rooms are the furthest from the beach and closest to the street, recommend booking at least the superior rooms, just 10 meters from the pool, higher category is either directly around the pool or with sea-view. Rooms are beautiful, a little dark but modern and clean, great bedding quality, slept like a baby in a completely noise-free environment for my whole stay. Only downside was the WiFi in the room, which was limited to only two devices, other than that a great stay! So in the end, If you are looking for a quiet, well run 4-star resort in the center of Lamai with direct access to the beach and a great infinity pool this is aplace to consider. Have a look below for the pictures […]
124/19 Moo 3, Lamai Beach, Lamai, Maret, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand
The Woraburi Sukhumvit is a budget hotel located in a quiet area near the bottom of one of the most vibrant streets for adult entertainment in Sukhumvit (Soi 4), Nana Plaza, Bangkok’s biggest Red-Light district complex is actually an easy walk from here and should take you no more than 10-15 minutes, alternatively if you don’t feel like walking a free TukTuk ride leaves the property and takes you there every 30 mins. FACTS: The Woraburi is certainly not the best hotel you can find in Sukhumvit, but it’s cheap and the rooms are adequate, yes they’ve certainly seen better days but everything still worked (TV, Fridge, AC), bed is comfortable enough, bathroom is outdated and shower water pressure was the one point really lacking, seemed has only to modes low and very low. Hotel has a small rooftop swimming pool with a bar and sunbeds. Staff can be hit and miss. Overall an average place at a good price. If you are expecting a 5-star hotel then you surely are going to be sorely disappointing TIP: Stay away from the standard rooms. Have a look above for the pictures of the room and hotel amenities.
